Here’s a whole heap of little newslets that haven’t made it to full, headline story status by themselves.

Confine features Daisy Lowe cast to type as a model taken hostage in her home. They’re not making much of the twins thing, but look closely at the trailer and you’ll pick up some bits and pieces. Hope there’s not a twist hanging on that reveal.

Eben Bolter, The apparently rather skilled cinematographer of Confine was a guest of mine to the Clash of the Titans remake. So… I’m still sorry to him about that.

This Japanese trailer for Planes has quite a few different bits to the Western edits and a rather excited voice over.

It’s not so much non-news as un-news but Ryan Reynolds has bailed on the Highlander remake. The producers will now need a new star as well as a director for the film, so we might as well forget about it for now – though I pretty much already had. [The Wrap]

Guillermo Del Toro will be reteaming with Hellboy‘s John Hurt for The Strain, his upcoming TV series about a particularly nasty vampire outbreak. The director says that he and co-writer Chuck Hogan had Hurt in mind when creating Professor Abraham Setrakian for their original Strain novels. He’s a holocaust survivor who has clashed with vampires before. [Deadline]

Extra shooting on The Hobbit continues. Peter Jackson has shared this image of James Nesbitt in cobwebs with his promise that a new vlog is coming soon. [Facebook]

Paul Kelly made three films with the band Saint Etienne, all of them serving as hymns to London. The BFI are now compiling them on DVD – sadly not Blu-ray. Here’s the trailer.

And here’s the trailer for Kelly’s Lawrence of Belgravia which isn’t just coming out but, hey, any excuse. Maybe one day this too will make it onto DVD.

The producers of Transformers 4 have lined up some Chinese product placement for whatever material they set in the East. According to the agreement, several landmarks will have to appear on screen, from the Pangu Plaza Hotel to some venues of the Olympic Park. It’s not clear if Michael Bay will be forbidden from blowing them up or bowling giant robots into them at two hundred miles an hour. He might just do it anyway. [THR]

Here’s the first poster for Iain Softley‘s Trap For Cinderella. I’m not sure that font in that colour was quite the right idea because it’s made the film look like the West End version of Chicago and it certainly isn’t that.

Anthony Mackie says the focus with Falcon, his character in Captain America 2, will be:

the need to show that he’s a very righteous, man-forward kind of guy. He would do anything to protect the man next to him and to protect his country. That’s the integrity of the character and the integrity of the man and that that’s what I have focused on

And as much as that will be it’s own reward, Mackie has another prize in mind:

The biggest thing for me, the most exciting thing for me, is to come out on Halloween and see all the little black kids dressed up like the Falcon. There are so many parts of our society that are not catered to or represented fully and this will give a new generation of our society someone to look up to and identify with. That’s why I am so intensely focused on bringing the character to life in a special way.

Rare to have one of these characters not just stumble into their position of superpower. [EW]

As well as geting a live-action, feature film adaptation, as we discussed last week, Archie and his Riverdale chums will also be getting animated… for something. Probably TV. [CBR]

1980′s classic French cartoon The King and the Bird is headed back to their cinemas in July. Judging from this trailer it’s in good nick but could still use some remastering. I’ll keep hoping for a shiny Blu-ray with subtitles.

Amazon appear to be eschewing Netflix’s all-at-once, binge-viewing schemes for their own original content. Jonathan Halter, the producer of Alpha House was asked if the show will be made available all at once and he said:

“No. It hasn’t been entirely determined how they’ll put it out. But it will be a different model”

Daily? Twice weekly? What could they be planning? It’s going to be weekly, isn’t it. [The Wrap]

Production is underway on the third series of Call The Midwife. This time, every single episode is going to be directed by a woman. Sadly, that’s not the sort of thing that could really happen by blind luck too often, so we know it’s meant as a statement. I can get behind that. [THR]

Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa are teaming up for Skin Trade, a human traficking drama – and to some extent, I’d imagine, action film. [Twitch Film]

Scott Disick is Kanye West‘s American Psycho in this promo for Yeezus. It’s probably not safe for work.

Sit.Com is a new sitcom, presumably with a webby, digital bent, currently being developed at Channel 4 by David Baddiel. It will be his first work in the form in 12 years. [Chortle]

Is there going to be a new series of Torchwood? Eve Myles says “Yes,” but doesn’t mean it, then follows up with “No” but finally, admits she doesn’t know. She does in her heart, though. We all doo. It’s dead. [BBC]

The BBC are adapting PD JamesDeath Comes To Pemberly, a kind of murder mystery sequel to Pride and Prejudice. Matthew Rhys is starring as Darcy, with Anna Maxwell Martin as Lizzie Bennet and Jenna Louise Coleman as her sister, Lydia. [Deadline]

There’s going to be lots of Godzilla tie-in merchandise. Wake me up when there are pictures. I want some outsized Godzilla slippers. [Variety]

Galaxy Quest and Red 2 director Dean Parisot is negotiating to direct the Houdini biopic that Gary Ross bailed on. [Deadline]

Here’s a good long clip from Europa Report, a well-liked sci-fi thriller with Sharlto Copley.

Europa Report is apparently quite a cracker. Can’t wait to see it all for myself.[Dread Central]

And that’ll be Rushes for today. More tomorrow.
